New Jack City

New Jack City (1991) — Original One-Sheet

Mario Van Peebles's landmark crime saga didn't just define a genre, it defined an era. Wesley Snipes is electric as Nino Brown, the Cash Money Brothers kingpin forever wreathed in cigarette smoke, with Ice-T as the undercover cop Scotty Appleton determined to bring him down. Add Judd Nelson, Vanessa A. Williams, Allen Payne, and a devastating turn from Chris Rock as Pookie, and you have one of the essential films of the early '90s.

The one-sheet captures the film's swagger perfectly: Nino looming in shades and smoke above his crew and his city, "an organized crime family out to run this city" rendered in cold blue haze. A Warner Bros. release, directed by Mario Van Peebles. Rated R.

A cornerstone piece for any collector of Black cinema, '90s cult classics, or the art of the crime epic.
